Carinthia’s highest and most snow-sure ski mountain offers not only heaps of snow, but also children’s rates up to the age of 18 years: That makes the Mölltaler Glacier and Ankogel a real Ski)Hit for families. Children aged under six years can ski for free. There is a generous discount of 50% for kids and teens aged from 6 to 18 years. This „austerity budget“ can only be topped by the multi-child bonus: Families with a third or more child(ren) aged 6–18 years receive free ski passes for their additional offspring, meaning that a healthy dose of fun in the sun and snow is also affordable for large families. Many studies show that children and young people are not getting enough physical exercise and recommend sport to compensate for long hours spent sitting and studying. Skiing sharpens several senses simultaneously: Balance, orientation, reactions and muscles are trained. The wonderful natural landscapes also deliver „fuel“ for the soul. Exercise can actually be a fun experience at the Mölltaler Glacier and Ankogel: Children really give it their all on the downhill stretch from Ankogel to Mallnitz which descends 1,350 metres in altitude as well as on Carinthia’s highest FIS downhill run from the Mölltaler Glacier to Flattach. And with a little bit of luck, you may even meet international ski stars who will be training on the Mölli from September onwards: Austria’s Marcel Hirscher, the National German Ski Team with Maria Höfl-Riesch and Felix Neureuther; Jens Byggmark from Sweden or Tina Maze from Slovenia will all be there. Special offers from the Flattach and Mallnitz ski resorts are also thoroughly family friendly, and have scored great marks in the past with their beginner ski areas.
